If a man is not faithful to his own individuality, he cannot be loyal to anything.

- Claude McKay

Phil Horlacher is a Senior at the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he is pursuing a BA in English with a minor in History. Phil is primarily concerned with investigating the intersection of history, philosophy, and aesthetics across media, especially with regards to issues of law and the human condition. Phil intends on furthering his education by attending law school following his graduation from UCSB.

In his free time, Phil enjoys a multitude of extracurricular activities. Since childhood, Phil has played the piano, but has also picked up many instruments, including the electric guitar, by ear. Phil has also been heavily influenced by the work of Dan Eldon in creating visual journals, which frame Phil's poetry in the context of Isla Vista in the 2010s. Finally, Phil is an avid runner who enjoys daily excursions near UCSB's West Campus.
